About Dell
Global technology giant Dell has come along way since 1984 and founder Michael Dell’s idea of selling computer systems directly to customers.
Dell first arrived in Ireland in 1991, and currently operates two facilities here, split between Raheen in Limerick and Cherrywood in Dublin.
While the company recently announced it is to relocate its Limerick computer manufacturing facility abroad, the operation will continue to co-ordinate EMEA manufacturing, logistics and supply-chain activities across a range of functions, including product development, engineering, procurement and logistics. The Limerick facility also houses Dell’s Global Innovation Solutions Centre and EMEA Enterprise Command Centre.
The company’s Dublin operation in Cherrywood is one of the largest customer centres of its kind in Ireland, providing sales to the Irish market and to the home and SME sector of the UK market. Cherrywood is also home to Dell’s EMEA Enterprise Expert Centre – a knowledge base for high-level enterprise technical support for customers across EMEA. It also houses Dell’s centralised EMEA marketing team, which is responsible for online development, pricing, product marketing, business analysis, and the creation, design and production of EMEA-wide advertising and direct mail campaigns.
Dell in Ireland had demonstrated its commitment to promoting philanthropy among its employees and executives. Annually, Dell employees in Ireland donate some €40,000 to national and local charities through the company’s Direct Giving programme.
